Branding and PAin

Why are Teens So Brand Conscious?

In society people have always either tried to fit in or create something new. That is no different in today’s societies. Especially in societies with very modern and high standard lifestyles.

Every since the 1950’s people started calling the above statement “being cool.” And in today’s society everything is about being cool. But it isn’t really all about that, but people have been tricked into believing so. Brand’s have been doing this for a while. Companies like Apple and Nike are masters of advertising.

Using advertising to entice consumers they get their attentions by focusing on the Medial Prefrontal Cortex as they use tactics to shape peoples minds. Now with they way things are going everyone is falling for something. Whether it’s a car, a phone or even shoes. Practically everybody is a Lemming in some way shape or form. Everybody has something they will follow blindly.

Pain of Paying

When it comes to paying for things I usually pay for things with cash. So I remember the “pain of paying” for things all the time. When I use my card for paying for things that just because I forget to pull the money out or I don’t want to deal with change wherever I’m spending my money… such as the movies.

As a student who works to be able to drive and do something on the weekend, I feel tons of pain when buying things. I don’t work enough to have enough money to where I don’t worry about how much I spend each week. When I don’t feel as much pain is right after a my birthday or after Christmas because that is when I have more money. OR when it involves a snack I trick myself into thinking that what I’m spending isn’t much because I’m not buying the super expensive stuff.

Any company that needs to prove their value knows about the pain of paying. Companies with tons of competition and need to show why they are the right choice to go with are masters of manipulating this part of peoples mind. Let’s say Apple is the company. They are ahead of the game in almost every way when it comes to phones and new technology. They had sleek looking products that are well constructed and fast working. And as a tech company they need to constantly show that their tech is better than other companies tech in order to keep their costumers and gain new ones.

Physical Wellness

Physical Wellness is very literal to me. To stay physically healthy. For me that means doing whatever it takes to live how I want to. Very fit in my case.

I want to be able to eat all the junk food that I possibly can. However I’m not willing to live the life that all that bad food will grant me without seeming like I don’t eat any at all.

I make sure I have earned whatever I eat. I love those new Gatorade commercials with J.J. Watt. Sweat it to Get it, is the slogan and I feel like if I don’t work hard to keep my body right, I’m not deserving to treat myself with junk. Otherwise I would need to eat really healthy.

Because of how active I am, I don’t feel bad about myself and how I look. I feel like I deserve what I eat and I don’t eat that bad either. If I ate really badly I wouldn’t feel too great when I need to perform at my best all the time.

I feel everybody should have the ability to do whatever they want to at any moment and not just to give in to temptation eating badly because it taste good. It would be better if people could feel good and be able to eat what they want to because they can make up for it.

While I’ve been talking about staying as active as possible to stay healthy. Many people say that’s only 30% of the work. The other 70% is diet.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Neil, you diet? Didn’t you say that you eat whatever?

Of course I diet. But not how you are thinking. Dieting isn’t just about losing weight. A diet is about having the right food for the lifestyle you live and/or trying to live.

Let’s say I didn’t do football and I just did karate. I would need to eat more protein to maintain muscle mass since I wouldn’t be doing as heavy lifting and forcing my body to push itself in the same ways as I would in football vs karate.

Now that we know diet is just about knowing what you need to eat and not just eating healthier or less to lose weight. It just needs to be applied properly so that people can live the life they want to live.

If being inactive and eating junk food is what you want to do, then fine. However I feel that, that it is no way to live.
